On Friday, I knew res, rei would be on my Latin midterm. Nice didn't say so specifically, but he emphasized it so much I knew it would be. Somewhere between Friday and this afternoon, though, I decided it wouldn't be worth my time to study the fifth declension because he most likely wouldn't put something so new on the test. Obviously I was wrong, or I wouldn't be writing this now. Oh well; it was only one question, and I know I'll get at least 25/30 on the paragraph translation.
I'd guess I'm looking at a B or a C on this thing. Earlier today I was despairing over that. But a B or a C is fairly good, considering I've pretty much failed every quiz in Latin that's included declensions, as has most of the class. The quizzes are only 10% of our grade, homework is 40%, and the midterm and final are 50%. I think my 95% in homework and predicted 85% on the midterm means I'm on track for a B, and with a guaranteed improvement on the final (IF it follows the format of the midterm) simply because I'll have had more practice by that time, I don't feel too bad about how I'm doing in Latin right now.
Though really, when is there ever no more room for improvement? I shouldn't be okay with those three or four quizzes I failed just because I made up for them with the near-perfect quizzes on conjugations. I never did take down declensions, and that I need to change.
