My family and I went to visit Willamette today for the Spring Preview. It was fun. I sat in on a class. (It was supposed to be three, actually—I couldn't find the second, and skipped the third because I was too nervous.) More importantly, I decided to get a sweatshirt. Until today, I was the only one around who was going to an out-of-state college/uni who had visited but didn't have a sweatshirt. No longer is this the case.
My sister and I watched Elizabethtown on the way there. We didn't get all the way through it before she wanted to sleep, and even though I didn't know the ending yet, I bought it at the Target that had only been open for thirty days because Oregon doesn't have any sales tax.
Their gas tax is low, too. It's amazing—our gas tax is so high that gasoline is more expensive here than it is in Oregon, where they have to pay people to pump it. Here we have bad roads, no pump attendants, and easier access to gas, but it's still ten cents more expensive.
Willamette has a gorgeous campus. The food in the Goudy Commons is delicious. The dorms are good enough. There's a 30-day-old Target twenty minutes away, a older Target even closer, and two malls within ten minutes. I love that it's not a college town, because I hate college towns. I would die in a place like Rexburg, Idaho, but I could thrive in Salem, Oregon.
I took two personality tests [livejournal.com profile] quiet_you linked. The first one I really liked. My results actually seemed to fit me, which I don't feel they usually do. The second test was way too cut-and-dry to work properly, in my opinion. It tells me I'm an ESTJ, which works in some ways, but is completely wrong in so many others. The fact that I object to the cut-and-dry nature of the test basically proves that I'm not an ESTJ. Oh well.
