Drink With Me
Sep. 3rd, 2005 11:44 pmToday my dad I decided which colleges I am going to apply to. We started with a list of ten and ended with five, so I think we did pretty well. Here it is:
(1) Western Washington University — A state school. It's only on the list for backup.
(2) Willamette University — Small liberal arts college in Salem, OR. My dad and I drove down to see it in April, and I really liked it.
(3) Macalester College — Small liberal arts college in St. Paul, MN. Sounds pretty cool.
(4) George Washington University — Big DC school, of course. I doubt I have a chance.
(5) Harvard University — Harvard needs no explanation. If I have doubts about George Washington...
They're in the order of what I think would be the easiest to get into. First choice would definitely be Harvard, then either George Washington or Willamette, then Macalester, with Western at the end of the list. I know I'll be accepted into Western, but I'm nervous about the rest of them. If I'm stuck with Western, I'll cry myself to sleep for the rest of my life.
My dad also wants me to talk to Mrs L (IB coordinator, plus IB French and IB Art teacher) about foreign schools. I think it'd be very cool to go to school in England, France or Switzerland, but I have no idea where to even start looking for schools over there, and neither does he. If Mrs L doesn't either, oh well; I have plenty of good schools on my list already.
I'm wondering if I can get Charles to write one of my letters of recommendation. The people who read those things would obviously recognize the Association, if they didn't recognize his name in the first place. He's really nice — he just might do it for me. I'll have to talk to Dixie and ask her what she thinks.
Here's to hoping!
