Honestly

Is it terrible of me to be depressed over a romantic comedy?

I just finished watching Love Actually. I love all of it, except for Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman's parts—that was just sad. It—it wasn't even the point of the film. Didn't their relationship show how love wasn't there, how love could just be—shoved aside, for—for sex? Didn't the introduction imply that the movie was about how love actually exists in the world today? How does an adulturous husband and his wife who's just figured it out but has to pretend show that?

I liked it all except for that. I especially liked that Hugh Grant was PM—who in the world would ever vote for him? XD Emma Thompson was lovely, she always is, but—how sad was her part? And Alan Rickman did just as famously, but—gosh. Of course, Colin Firth was amazing, and Liam Neeson did surprisingly well, as did the adorable kid who played his son—and I loved the clever insertion of Mr. Bean, brilliant. But I can't get over Emma and Alan's story, that's just terrible—and how she was so happy to see her brother at the play, because she thought he was there to support her, but even that was a lie. What a terrible story.

Great movie, really, but—honestly, what a terrible story they had for the poor girl. Not to mention the one lovesick for his best friend's wife.
