Still Not Over
Apr. 16th, 2004 09:22 pmI forgot how much I love taking walks.
I took a slightly new route today -- new compared to the route I took a month ago when I walked daily for almost a week before I virtually forgot about it -- and it was lovely. One of my friends from school (in fact, the only one that I know that lives around me, more than a twenty minute drive away from school) is moving into a house in my developement that is really close to mine, so I thought I'd check it out and altered my course to do so. He'd told me it was grey, had grape vines in the backyard, and that it was half on the slope of the hill and half on flat ground. None of these details helped very much, as half the houses on the street (at least 25 total.. it's one big, winding hill) were grey, I saw too many grapevines to count, and the hill nearly flattened out quite often. I decided I had found it when I went up the hill the second time; I had seen the "SOLD" sign up the first time, but the house looked slightly green so I wasn't sure. I grabbed one of the little description papers and I'm going to bring it to school on Monday to see if I guessed the right house.
The sun was almost set when I set out, so the sky was still a bit red and pink. It wasn't cold yet, with the only wind being created by me. Most of the sounds came from my discman (before the batteries died), and then it was from birds and the little springs in the relatively undeveloped areas with a bit of forest.
Walking is so calming.
