Half of our youth group was out of town today, so it was basically moi, Dana, Lindsey, and six leaders. It was pretty weird, but fun, because our leaders totally rock.

Anyway, after the activity, the two other girls had left. I was getting a ride home with one of the leaders, so when they all stood around and talked for a bit, I joined in. They got on the subject of movies that made them cry when one asked another if she could borrow Charli for her trip to Nevada with her family. The other leader told her of course, but that she would need a box of tissues. The rets of us started chiming in with movies that had made us cry.

Of course, I said Independence Day.

Don't give your computer the same look they gave me, please. They were all, "Independence Day? What the heck was so tear-jerking about that?" All I can say is that thye obviously don't know their movies very well, because ID has an amazingly sad scene that every movie-lover remembers. That scene is where the First Lady dies. The President leaves the hospital room, and their daughter is there. He tells her that mommy is asleep, and she says something along the lines of, "We're never going to see mommy again, are we?" He hugs her and, choked up, answers no. I never actually cry at that part, but I always get that tingly feeling that means I'm pretty close.

Yeah, I could have said that I almost cried during Forrest Gump, Les Misérables, or even Remember the Titans and sounded a bit more sane, but I didn't expect them to be so incredulous. (Yes, I have felt the prickling of oncoming tears during each of these movies, though I did refrain from actually crying. Didn't anyone else find almost the entire bit of RotT after Gary's accident extremely sad?)

Eh.
